A small wedding or ceremony at a villa

Most couples from abroad hold a symbolic ceremony in Bali and complete the legal paperwork at home. A private villa suits that well, for a small group, a lawn and an evening that ends by the pool. What matters is the space, the noise limit and being honest about numbers.

Legal or symbolic

Indonesia’s legal requirements for a marriage are strict, and so most foreign couples complete the legal marriage in their home country and hold a symbolic ceremony in Bali. A symbolic ceremony has the form and the guests without the legal paperwork. If you want a legally recognised marriage in Indonesia, take advice from the Indonesian authorities and a registered celebrant; a villa cannot do that for you.

Why a villa

A villa gives a ceremony privacy and time. There is no booking slot that ends at six; the guests are on the property, not in transit; a garden or lawn is the ceremony space and the dinner is beside the pool. It suits small groups well — vow renewals, milestone birthdays, a wedding for the people closest to the couple.

The numbers

A villa is not a function room. At Villa Aniri a ceremony takes place on the lawn with the Joglo pavilion behind it, and a long table is set beside the pool for dinner. It is suited to a small gathering; for more than a few dozen guests a beach club or hotel venue is the better choice. Tell us the number of guests when you enquire, and we say honestly whether it works.

Music and neighbours

Residential lanes have limits. At Villa Aniri, music ends at 10 pm. If you plan a band, a DJ or amplified speeches, say so when you enquire and ask what is possible.

Who brings what

A villa is the place; the officiant, florist, photographer, musicians and caterer are yours to arrange or ask about. A private chef can cook for the group from the villa kitchen, with the menu planned a day ahead.

The events page says what the house suits. Tell us the occasion, the number of people and the date, and we reply with availability, a full price and what is possible.

This guide keeps to what we can vouch for: this house, this lane, and things that are simply true of Bali. Where it would need a fact we have not checked — a restaurant’s current form, a price we do not set, a rule that changes — we have left it out rather than guessed, and said who to ask instead. If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
