Remote work

A workation in a Seminyak villa

A workation is a stay in which the work is real and the setting is the reward. For a week or a month, a villa gives a digital nomad a desk, a kitchen and a pool for the break. What to plan is the desk and the Wi-Fi, the quiet, and how you want the days to run.

A desk and Wi-Fi you have checked

A villa with a desk and fast Wi-Fi is the first thing people look for, and the one claim worth verifying. Ask for a measured speed from the room where you will actually work, not a word on a listing. At Villa Aniri the Wi-Fi runs at 200–300 Mbps. What to ask, and how, is in working from a villa in Seminyak.

A week or a month

A week is a rhythm: two heavy days, a day out, two light days. A month is a different stay, with groceries, a laundry routine and a favourite café. Monthly villa rental is arranged on request: tell us the dates and ask for the monthly rate on the work page.

A shape for the day

The workations that work keep a simple shape: a swim and breakfast before the first call, a long table and a closed door for the work, a walk at the end of the afternoon to the restaurants. Seminyak makes this easy because the walk is short; it is calmer than Canggu and less of a scene.

Space for a team

Two or three people working together can use the open pavilion by day and four air-conditioned bedrooms by night. For a company retreat or a founders’ stay, see the offsite page.

Visas

The rules on working from Indonesia depend on your nationality and visa and they change; check with the Indonesian immigration authorities before you travel. A villa cannot advise on them.

This guide keeps to what we can vouch for: this house, this lane, and things that are simply true of Bali. Where it would need a fact we have not checked — a restaurant’s current form, a price we do not set, a rule that changes — we have left it out rather than guessed, and said who to ask instead. If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
