A Bali villa at Christmas and New Year
Christmas and New Year are the busiest weeks of the Bali year, and they fall in the wet season. A villa Christmas works well, with a pool, a kitchen and a long table, but the dates are booked early and carry a minimum stay.
Book early, and expect a minimum stay
Open nights before Christmas, with a free upgrade when you Book with Aniri, are on the Christmas page. The weeks around Christmas and New Year are peak dates, and the best houses go first. The minimum stay is two nights at Christmas and three for a stay that includes New Year’s Eve; the rates page shows live availability for the dates you enter.
The weather
December is in Bali’s wet season: warm, humid, with rain that often arrives as a shower in the afternoon rather than a whole day. A villa with a covered pavilion and a kitchen copes with it well; see Bali in the wet season for what to expect.
A Christmas at a villa
The pleasure of a villa Christmas is that the meal is yours: a long table under cover, a kitchen to cook in or a private chef to plan the menu with you a day ahead, and a pool for the afternoon. At Villa Aniri the table seats eight in the open pavilion beside the pool.
New Year’s Eve
Seminyak is lively on New Year’s Eve, and traffic is slow. Plan transfers and restaurant tables well ahead, and expect to enjoy the evening at the villa or a short walk from it rather than across town. Music at Villa Aniri ends at 10 pm, so a late night is a plan for elsewhere, with the villa to come back to.
Flights and arrival
Flights fill at the same time as villas. Check the arrival and the transfer plan early: see from the airport to the villa.
